Of the top 100 Champagne companies ranked by turnover in 2020, an unprecedented year for this prestigious product.

The statistical research site BoldData has ranked the 100 largest companies specializing in the marketing of this sparkling wine with an international reputation. Operating as a real database, BoldData has compiled and classified Champagne companies by turnover.

Unsurprisingly, there is an ultra-dominated ranking by the luxury giant Moet Hennessy, owned by the LVMH group with 64.7 million bottles sold in 2020 for a turnover of more than 2.21 billion euros. The Wines and Spirits division of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) has six emblematic Champagne brands, including Veuve Clicquot, Moet-Chandon and Dom Pérignon, products marketed by the French multinational that have established themselves as bestsellers in the world of champagnes, thanks to a level of demand and an image that is always careful.

After this ultra-domination of France, we then observe a much narrower ranking on the other places of the top 10, with Vranken-Pommery Monopoly which ranks second (CA of 218.8 million euros, or 10 times less than Moet Hennessy). The group owns five Champagne brands including Vranken, Demoiselle, Charles Lafitte 183, Pommery and Heidsieck - Co. Monopoly with 2,600 hectares of land (Europe's largest champagne wine area), spread over four vineyards in Champagne, Provence, Camargue and Douro.

The Vranken-Pommery Monopoly group is then closely followed by Champagne houses Nicolas Feuillatte (211.9 million euros in sales) and Laurent Perrier (206.2 million euros). In tenth place, it is occupied by the Champenoise PH-CS Company - better known as Piper Heidsieck - with an annual turnover of 109.2 million euros. Gosset - the oldest Champagne House - is only 33rd in this ranking with an annual turnover of 23.7 million euros.

Highly impacted by the health crisis linked to coronavirus, the champagne market estimates its losses at more than 100 million bottles and hopes to return to normal by the second half of 2021 - early 2022.
