Louis Vuitton x NBA: The Pre-collection Men Fall 2021 by Virgil Abloh unveiled
Louis Vuitton and its artistic director Homme Virgil Abloh enrich their partnership with the American National Basketball League with a new Fall 2021 collection inspired by the golden age of basketball across the Atlantic: the 1990s.
After announcing its partnership in early 2020, which saw the result of numerous projects including a capsule collection to celebrate the victory of the Lakers, the French brand Louis Vuitton and the American sports basketball league announce their future joint project: a men's pre-collection, under the dome of the artistic director of the French brand, Virgil Abloh.
Here, the House and the professional basketball league explore our collective memory and trace the history of the two institutions in the 1990s, the golden age of the discipline. In this tribute that combines pop culture, fashion and sport, the collection celebrates the links that sport can create despite our differences.
Among the novelties of the season, a selection of models has been imagined in collaboration with the designer Don Crawley, acclaimed for his style both trendy and sportswear. The American honors the iconography of basketball on a jacket, shorts and a Keepall printed, and also signs the emblematic balls and baskets of the collection.
True to the spirit of the first capsule collection unveiled last October, this clothing collection includes the three dress codes of the basketball player: the trip, the game and the press conference. Clothing that meets the different needs of these situations, while sporting the logo of the brand and the colors of the NBA.
Accessories, such as sports bags or ball-shaped pouches, are reminiscent of the materials used for basketballs and their special texture. The Monogram, symbol of the French brand, is also invited here in a leather version for the Keepall, all enhanced with red inlays. Jewelry, acclaimed by players in the 1990s, but also blankets, cushions or basketballs will also be part of the collection.
